WDBJ News7 in Roanoke, VA received several honors, including one Superior Award, in the Virginia Associated Press contest.
The Superior Award was in the Continuing Coverage category and went to News7 for its coverage of the Brittany Smith abduction case, a story that took viewers from Fort Lewis to San Francisco to South Boston.
WDBJ7 also received numerous Meritorious Awards with two won by Justin McLeod. His wins came in the Public Service Through Journalism and In-Depth Reporting categories.
Other Meritorious Award winners included Jean Jadhon for News Operation, Anchor; Bruce Young for Feature Photography; and the WDBJ7 staff for Best Website.
