The Northern Michigan Review has recently named veteran Petoskey News-Review reporter Steve Zucker to the post of managing editor at the Charlevoix Courier .
Zucker, a Petoskey resident, has been a reporter with the News-Review for the past 12 1/2 years. In that time he has reported on a wide array of topics and communities in the area. Most recently he has covered police, fire and courts, the communities on the eastern half of Charlevoix County, and Charlevoix County government. Zucker replaces former  Courier editor Benjamin Gohs.
Born and raised in Frankenmuth, Zucker came to the area in 1996. After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1993 with a degree in public relations, marketing  and journalism, he worked as an assistant manager of a restaurant for two years in the Detroit area.
Zucker got his first experience in journalism in 1997 when he worked as a writer for the former Boyne City newspaper, The Citizen, for about eight months. He joined the staff at the News-Review in October of that year.
Zucker is married to Erin, a music teacher at Boyne City Public Schools. They have two daughters, Kathryn, 9, and Anna, 11 month.
Along with writing, Zucker enjoys photography, boating, camping, fishing, biking, bowling, and being with his family. He said he will rely on his background and experience at the News-Review to help him with the new job.
