YWCA Announces Tribute 2019 Honorees!

Patricia Cressy, Muffet McGraw, Charlotte Pfeifer and the Schurz Communications Foundation among those recognized

South Bend, IN-YWCA North Central Indiana is proud to announce the 2019 Tribute honorees. Each year the YWCA recognizes those in our community who have helped empower others at its Tribute Awards & Auction Dinner which helps raise money for the YWCA’s programs for women and children.

This year’s honorees are:

Patricia Cressy- 2019 YWCA Woman of the Year. Through gifts of both time and treasure Pat Cressy has helped make our community a better place to live and work. As the first director of Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka Pat empowered young professionals to not only connect with the community but to also get involved in ways to improve it. Pat and her husband Don have been called champions of children for the support they’ve provided to various programs for at risk kids in the St. Joseph County community including children who have been exposed to domestic violence in their homes.

Muffet McGraw– “2019 YWCA Woman of Change.” Notre Dame Basketball Coach McGraw will receive the inaugural YWCA Woman of Change Award for using her voice to empower women both in and out of the world of sports.

Charlotte Pfeifer– 2019 YWCA Sojourner Truth Recipient.” Charlotte has been a voice for women and minorities in our community for decades. She is being recognized with the Sojourner Truth award for her lifetime of work on human rights and racial justice.
“It is such an honor to shine the spotlight on these powerful, passionate, community- minded women,” said YWCA CEO Susan Tybon. “Pat, Muffet and Charlotte have not only excelled personally but have used their talents to empower others and to improve our community,” added Tybon.

Also at Tribute, Schurz Communications Foundation will be recognized as Organization of the Year for its kind and generous support of women and children in need. The 2019 YWCA Tribute Dinner and Auction program will take place May 31st at the Hilton Garden Inn in South Bend and will feature both silent and live auctions offering trips, experiences and other items.
