Scott C. Schurz, Jr.
Scott C. Schurz Jr. is a seasoned board director and senior executive with more than three decades of leadership across broadband, media, and cloud services. He serves on the Board of Directors of Schurz Communications, where his focus includes governance, strategic direction, and shareholder engagement. In this capacity, he has contributed to the company’s most critical committees, including Audit & Finance, Governance, and Acquisition, while chairing both the Sustainability and Benefits Administrative Committees. He also served as President of the Schurz Communications Foundation, Inc.
Schurz’s career at Schurz Communications included leadership roles in advertising, circulation, broadcast, and publishing. He led as General Manager of Special Publications at the South Bend Tribune before becoming President, Editor, and Publisher of The Advocate-Messenger in Kentucky, where he oversaw all Central Kentucky operations. He was later appointed Vice President of Corporate Development, and subsequently Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Development, before serving as Vice President of People & Culture.
In addition to his corporate leadership, Schurz has been deeply engaged in civic and industry service. He has served on the boards of Danville Library Inc., the Heart of Kentucky United Way, RedPost, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, the Centre College President’s Advisory Council, and the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the boards of the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association and the Kentucky Press Association, where he was past president. A graduate of Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka and Leadership Boyle County, he also completed the National Association of Broadcasters’ Broadcast Leadership Training Program.
Schurz holds both a Bachelor of Arts (1991) and a Master of Business Administration (2004) from the University of Notre Dame, and has maintained SHRM-CP certification since 2017. He and his wife, Stephanie, have two sons, Scott (Trey) III and Daniel.
